Real-time = social currency

14 Dec

As I sit here and ask myself “how did I ever take all the time needed to create a successful blog?”  I’m reminded of the fact that today’s currency is current; it’s real-time news, information, and conversation. I really like how Robin, from The Customer Collective, says it:

Creating — and driving — demand in today’s market is all about having the best, real-time knowledge and using it effectively in a newly-networked world.

So really, do I have to spend a lot of time on my new blog to make it awesome? No, but I do have to make the time I spend efficient. Now this does not give me (or you, or your brand) license to just DO without thinking first, even though the future is all about brands DOING instead of SAYING, but it takes a strategic mind to efficiently do. Objectives first my friends. Strategy second.

Here are some things to ask about your brand online:

  • Determine what your “real-time” feed will be structured around
  • How will you become the “go-to” resource on a real-time basis?
  • First understand your consumer needs: what will they be Googling? How can you get in their search results?
  • When they come to your site, what “real-time” news and services will they have access to?
  • What does “instant” mean for your line of products/services?
  • What will be giving people to talk about?

Ok. Go!
